The Red Apple Transit is the public transit bus system for the City of Farmington. Beginning in 2001, the City of Farmington has provided both fixed-route and demand response services. From 2001 until 2011, the Red Apple Transit has enjoyed tremendous growth from a small rural service to an urbanized area service with annual ridership growing from 20,000 per year to over 11,000 per month. The Red Apple Transit contracts with First Transit, Inc. for the provision of drivers and daily operation of the system to include fixed-routes, demand response (Dial-A-Ride) and Paratransit services.
