    October 21, 2016, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Riverside Nature Center

    The Friends of the Nature Center support the programs, activities, and development of facilities at the Nature Center, and are kept abreast of all the new plans and developments. The fall gathering from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Riverside Nature Center in Animas Park in Farmington is a great time to join, or to renew your membership, as well as to enjoy food and fellowship with other members. New and renewing members get a coupon for a special discount at all Farmington Museum stores during the next week. Come find out what was accomplished during the summer, as well as future plans, and enjoy views of whatever wildlife comes in view outside our windows. RSVP at 599-1422 so we order enough pizza.

    Would you like to learn more about herbs, native plants, and xeriscape landscaping, or do you just enjoy gardening? Come and help prepare the Riverside Nature Center Xeriscape Demonstration Gardens in Animas Park, Farmington, for fall as staff and volunteers groom the gardens, update the signs, and enjoy working together. There are tasks for everyone, whatever your skills or physical abilities.

    This early evening walk is an opportunity to learn autumn stars, constellations, and the myths which help remember them on a stroll through Animas Park. Dress for the weather, and bring a flashlight. Binoculars are helpful. Children should be old enough to understand listening quietly. No pets, please.

    Some of the wildlife in Animas Park in Farmington are most interesting just at sunrise. Come walk the park trails and enjoy the beginning of the day on a refreshing fall morning. Coffee and hot chocolate will be ready at the Nature Center at 7:00 a.m.; bring your own breakfast munchies for the trail walk if you wish. Dress warmly and bring binoculars if you have them. No pets, please.
