Farmington Fire Department's Wildland Team consists of 26 personnel. This team is a New Mexico State Forestry resource that can be mobilized to fires around the country. FFD's Wildland team currently has two specialized apparatus for callouts to include Brush 4 and Brush 6. Over the past five years FFD has been called to assist fires outside of New Mexico including: Arizona, Colorado, and California.

The team also coordinates with New Mexico State Forestry on grant projects inside the city limits that remove invasive non-native trees. This allows for fuel mitigation to reduce catastrophic fire effects and help gain access for fire suppression. As of 2014 the City of Farmington has received over 100 acres of fuel mitigation.
