New water park, Bisti Bay at Brookside Park, will celebrate opening with a free swim day 

FARMINGTON, NM – The much anticipated opening of the City of Farmington’s new water park, Bisti Bay at Brookside Park, will be celebrated on July 13, 2019. The grand opening will feature free admission for the first 500 people sponsored by the Farmington Lion’s Club, special giveaways throughout the day, and a ribbon cutting with the Farmington Red Coats at 10:00 a.m.

This season visitors can expect to enjoy the lazy river, an in-pool playground, spray features, areas to play aquatic volleyball and basketball, rentable party pavilions, on-site food service and three lap lanes (open during lap swim).

“Generations of children have spent their summers making memories with their families and friends at Brookside Park - the pool its most popular feature. City Council was determined to build an exciting aquatic experience that combines the nostalgia of this popular community facility with one of our area’s most iconic landscapes. I’d like to thank all those who provided input through public engagement, as well as, the incredible City of Farmington team who worked on this project. Because of each of you, Bisti Bay at Brookside Park will be a popular attraction for our community and visitors across the Four Corners,” said Farmington Mayor Nate Duckett. 

The water park will be open through Labor Day during the following hours:

                                                     Weekdays                                     Weekends

Lap Swim                               10:00 to 11:30 a.m.                            8:00 to 10:00 a.m.

Public Swim                           11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.                      10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Private Rentals                       6:30 to 8:30 p.m.                               6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Public swim admission is reduced to $4.00 per person this season. Once phase two is complete and the two large slides are open next season, the regular admission of $6.00 per person for public swim will go into effect. Lap swim is $2.50.

“We are thrilled to be able to open Bisti Bay for our community members!  We know this has been a long anticipated addition to our community, but the experience will certainly be worth the wait!” adds Shaña Reeves, Director of Parks, Recreation, & Cultural Affairs.

Here’s some important information for visitors:

·         Swim attire is required to enter the pool and slides.

·         Children under the age of six years must be supervised in the water by a responsible swimmer of 15 years or older.

·         Approved personal floatation devices are welcome outside of the lazy river. Bisti Bay inner tubes will be provided for the lazy river feature.

·         $4 admission is good for the entire public swim session for the day of purchase. Community members may leave the facility at any time, however, with a total occupancy of 400 patrons, swimmers may have to wait for re-admittance.

Party pavilion rentals during regular hours start at $135.00 for 15 swimmer for three hours. Private rentals for parties to be held afterhours start at $500.00 for up to 250 guests.
