Phase 2 of City of Farmington’s comprehensive plan underway
Seeking public input
FARMINGTON, N.M. – The City of Farmington is moving forward with the second phase of their comprehensive plan update. Phase 2 - Analysis & Opportunities, includes a community survey about three preliminary vision statements developed around amenities, connectivity and people. Possible opportunities for achieving each vision are included and space is provided for additional public suggestions.
Phase 1 – Foundation & Visioning, of the comprehensive plan took place July through September 2019. The plan is scheduled to be adopted in November 2020 and will direct Farmington's progress over the next 20 years, providing recommendations and guidance to City Council. The 2040 plan will reflect Farmington’s transformation from an economy predominantly reliant on fossil fuels to one that is more diverse.
The City is working on the update with consultants from Logan Simpson Design Inc., a technical advisory committee comprised of City employees, and a steering committee comprised of citizens selected by City Council.
Anyone interested in helping guide the future of Farmington is encouraged to complete the online survey at http://bit.ly/CompPlanPhase2. The survey is open now through December 5.
