First Works of Heart Volunteer Fair set for January 30
Vendor registration now open
FARMINGTON, N.M. - Volunteers are the heart and soul of every community! On Thursday, January 30, organizations will come together for the inaugural Works of Heart Volunteer Fair, taking place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at San Juan College in the Henderson Fine Arts Center, 9000 rooms. The public will be able to explore volunteer opportunities available in our community and speak with representatives from various organizations working to make a difference in the lives of others.
Kandy LeMoine, program manager for the Mayor’s Volunteer Partners explained, "I'm motivated by the tremendous spirit of volunteerism our community shows! We receive hundreds of applications from citizens who wish to serve, and we cannot always place everyone in our MVP program. This free event will provide other volunteer opportunities for those who want to make a difference in their community."
According to the Corporation for National Community Service, in 2018, "Americans volunteered nearly 6.9 billion hours, worth an estimated $167 billion in economic value." LeMoine added, "Everyone has talents and abilities to share with their communities. Whether your interests are in helping the elderly, mentoring teens or working on a clean-up project, there is an organization waiting to put your talents to good use."
This event is being hosted by the Mayor's Volunteer Partners, a program of the City of Farmington. For more information about the MVP program, visit fmtn.org/volunteers.
