Are you ready to launch, expand or relocate an outdoor recreation business in San Juan County? The City of Farmington and San Juan College are hosting ORII Basecamp to help your business flourish. This free event is scheduled for March 7, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the San Juan College School of Energy in the Merrion Room.
Digital marketing is one of the key issues for any business, but the stakes are higher for businesses that depend on visitors as well as locals for customers. Ken Collins, owner of Ken Collins Marketing, will provide advice on how to market outdoor recreation businesses. This will also be the kick-off to the Outdoor Recreation Marketing Toolkit. The toolkit is an opportunity for outdoor recreation businesses to receive customized expert assistance in developing their logo, website and social media marketing campaign at no cost to the business.
Additional speakers will focus on information businesses need to jumpstart the summer season. City of Farmington officials will give an update on the outdoor recreation initiatives already in place and in the planning stages. Businesses that operate on BLM land will learn the process to receive the required permits. A panel of local manufacturers will discuss their experiences with product diversification. Tours of The Big Idea makerspace will also be available for businesses interested in a place to develop or build new products.
A resource fair for business owners is part of the event. This will include business consultants, funding sources and other partners to assist businesses.
The ORII Basecamp and Outdoor Recreation Marketing Toolkit is funded by a grant from the New Mexico Office of Outdoor Recreation.
