City of Farmington closing additional facilities following governor’s amended public health order

FARMINGTON, N.M. On Monday, March 16 Kathyleen Kunkel, secretary of the New Mexico Department of Health, on behalf of the governor issued an amended public health order along with additional direction from the governor affecting municipal government facilities and operations. As a result, effective Tuesday, March 17, the following indoor City facilities will be closed until further:

  • Farmington Public Library
  • Farmington Museum
  • Museum of Navajo Art & Culture
  • Riverside Nature Center

These are in addition to the previously closed facilities:

  • E Children’s Museum
  • Farmington Aquatic Center
  • Farmington Recreation Center
  • Sycamore Park Community Center
  • Lions Pool
  • Farmington Indian Center
  • Bonnie Dallas Senior Center: Facility and regular programming will be closed. Meals on Wheels will continue and congregate meals will be served to-go in a drive-through process.

The following outdoor facilities will remain open:

  • Parks
  • Trails
  • Golf Courses

Continue to practice social distancing, wash hands often for 20 seconds with soap and water, stay home if you are sick and cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue. If you don’t have a tissue, cough into the crux of your arm.

The City of Farmington continues to monitor the coronavirus situation and will provide updates as they become available. Please note, as of today, March 16 at the time of this message, there have been no confirmed COVID-19 cases in San Juan County.
